Default NASA Videos - What format?

I watched some on board NASA videos the other day. These are streaming type, not downloads. I wanted to watch them off line and I've found the files in my internet temp folder with a .dat ext. None of my video players are able to read them (project X, VCL, Steamclip, Win Media), I've also tried to see if they are flash, but it does not look like they are. Is there anything else that I can try to play these with or determin what they actually are?

Videos from here

The on board SRB ones are good

You're best bet is to get a piece of software, something like WM Recorder and record the streaming videos. This way they will be recorded for off-line watching via Windows Media Player.

Alternatively have a look on www.videohelp.com
