Default ipod nano question

Just bought a nano today. One question! If I put a CD in and itunes store's it, when the nano is plugged in the songs automatically transfer to the ipod. How do i just transfer individual tracks off the album. I want to put loads of CD's on my itunes folder and I dont want every single song on my nano every time I charge the bugger!! Does that make sense to anyone?

Help!!

Nathan,

I think if you click on edit and then preferences when your nano is connected, you have the option somewhere in there to alter the settings so that you manually update your nano.

Hope that helps.

Nige.

It kind of helps. When you update your ipod, is that like refreshing it and sending the songs over again that are selected?

You want to turn off the "Auto Update" settings, or whatever it calls it?

Otherwise if you add or remove songs from within iTunes it will do exactly the same thing on your Nano i.e. it replicates what ever is (or isn't) listed in itunes.

I find it better to remove the auto update and transfer the songs manually.

Hope this helps?

Ok,

Follow this *WITH YOUR NANO CONNECTED*:

1. Select "edit" from the iTunes toolbar.

2. Select "preferences" from the drop down list.

3. Select the "iPod" tab.

4. Then select the "music" tab in the newly displayed box.

Here you have the options for your Nano.
So....

5. Select "Manually manage songs and playlists".

Bingo....

Or load more songs then the Ipod can handle, it'll create a Playlist then just ad and delete songs from this Playlist.
