Just pre-ordered the Wii for the launch date.....
Anyone else took the plunge?
I must admit I havent done any looking up on this console what so ever, so have no idea what to expect..... but as with anything new, i've gotta have it.
Best get looking around the internet now, so I can see what to expect.
Regards,
Shaun.

The Wii, with its fantastically innovative motion-controller, might not have high-def anything in the wings and maybe that's exactly what's going to keep it in the running as a popular games console. Gaming is at the heart of the Wii whereas the others have decided to diversify. While gaming will be a part – a key part – of the PS3, for instance, Sony's eye is on the "big picture" whereby it will displace standalone DVD/Blu-ray players in the living rooms of every home. In monetary terms – this is a much bigger pot of gold than just gaming. Apart from high-def, is the gaming experience going to be radically different from current consoles? Probably not. Better looking, yes, but a departure for the player? No. It'll still be all arthritic thumbs.

I'm going to keep my pennies for a HDTV - I was going to wait for 1080p but I'll just get a 720 set now and another later. I've not seen any games on Wii have have blown me away to the extent to make me buy one - but that controller may prove a lot of fun, and will probably be a bigger calorie burner then the Eye Toy.

Not sure what the fuss is all about with Zelda. I got Ocarina, but got bored of it within a week and never played it again. Never understood why everyone says "it's all about gameplay with Nintendo" either. My cube has been sat idle for over a year because I've not found anything worth playing on it, (it's not even wired in at the moment).
The Wii looks interesting, but the launch games don't. I'm going to leave it a while before I think about getting one. The Snes was the last decent machine they made imo...

Ocarina is widely acclaimed as one of the best if not the best game of all time I certainly enjoyed it better than Half life 1 ,(which was around at the time and getting all sorts of awards ) ) so I'm afraid you're on your own there. As for game play with Nintendo developed games , they just have that fun factor with them you just don't get with "kill everything that moves" type games , there for all the family to enjoy ,they don't have that intensity most shoot em ups have . Which I prefer
But each to their own
But each to their own

"Within six months of its release, Ocarina of Time sold over five million copies[2], and over 8.6 million copies have been sold worldwide [3]. In addition to its commercial success, Ocarina of Time is also frequently ranked as the greatest video game ever made[4], due to its groundbreaking graphics, free roaming gameplay, ingenious puzzles and breath-taking story ""
Quote from wikipedia , first thing I came up with a Google search I bet there are tons more like this
But I'll agree to disagree
Hats off to Nintendo though , just for doing something different and not get caught up in the mega graphics race , I think the Wii is going to be ace ... harmless fun for all the family . I cant wait

Of course online popularity rankings are always accurate
I saw one the other day that said according to rankings, "The Exorcist" is the scariest movie ever, and I've definitely seen more scary movies than that. These polls are usually organised by people with a vested interest, and so you can't believe any of them.
I expect the Wii will be great for the kids. There's just not enough depth in the games announced so far to hold my interest.
