Question slightly faulty PlayStation 2

as above i've just bought a cheap ps2 of ebay which works, but it wont play cd's, like the ones off the original PlayStation. my thoughts are that the laser has packed up? would that sound right? if not what could it be? the plan is just to fix it and sell it on.

cheers ron

IF you take the PS apart and look on the CD/DVD drive you will see a small brass thing(which can only describe it) just a small turn on this clockwise will make your CDs readable, but may fail your laser life. Just boosts the power of the laser, useful if its chipped and your running copies
