reinstalled some old faves that ran like a dog on previous slooow machines...

windows is more responsive when running concurrent apps, but if applications are only single threaded, then they'll only use a full 2ghz. the windows services, etc will just chop to the other cpu.
i got a vaio sz2xp. T2500 dual core 2.0ghz, 1gb ram, 100gb hdd, 128meg geforce go 7400. scores 13000 on 3dmark2001se

i didn't actually get it to play games, but was impressed it handled those games so much better than my old pcs/laptops.
I think 13000 is nominal for the nvidia 7400 Go chipset.
Also, I'm not sure I'd be faster than a Xp2500 on single threaded performance.
It's pretty nippy for manipulating photos tho
