First on one PC - tyring to update Zone Alarm I noticed file that I downloaded or tried to run was either too small - a few Kb instead of Mb - or would not run due to not being a 'valid windows installer package' or other such wording - even affecting my main machine now - can not download or install Windows Defender from MS http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/t...=&Hash=MWPHPQ7

What is happening? - I've run AdAware & got AVG & Zone Alarm running - turning ZA off didn't make any difference....

Downloading on Limewire works...

clear your temp files and see if that helps

I had a trojan / virus on a PC which did something similar - it goofed all my downloads so nothing was usable.

The pc also had AVG. . . .

I downloaded NOD32 & patches from another machine, burnt to CD & installed - found nasty stuff & cleaned.

Thanks guys...

Logged into Trend Micro Housecall which claimed to find a few nasties... but situation still not sorted - tried downloading though the AOL browser & that worked fine.

Downloaded NOD32 trial version which has run & not found anything extra...

Now downloading MS Windows defender - we'll see if that finds anything...
