Yes and thats abit odd considering the biggest reason why sales of the original Xbox were poor in Japan were because of its size.

Poorly veiled racism on the Japanese part I reckon, they won't buy anything American if they can help it. A case of any excuse. Be a bit hypocrytical of them now if the PS3 sells out .
