hehe, within 4 days, i've sh@gged up my new laptop!!
deinstalled all the crap demo, unwanted apps.
installed visual studio 6 enterprise, photoshop, nikon capture 4, bang! BSOD!
at this same time, i turned indexing off too.
got into a restart - bsod loop with the cpu running at 100%
uninstalled nikon capture and now it boots ok, but is soooo slow and the sound is still fragmented.
haven't turned indexing back on, but i didn't think it might cause this much trouble.
sysinternals here we come....
also why the f*ck don't we get driver disks anymore?!?!
good job i created the recovery disks first
i'm old school. i want xp pro sp2 and drivers on separate disks!!!

I'm trying to sort out a mates eMachines system thats gone loopy, and all he has is the manufacturer's supplied system restore disc, with all it's associated junk.
There's nothing like running scandisk in dos is there?
