Default BAD DVD play back

Never needed to watch a dvd on my pc but today i needed to, and when tryed i had very bad playback all jerky movement and stuttering sound any ideas what causing this?

What are your system specs and what player are you using?

You probably need to update you're graphic card drivers. But it also depends how good of a graphics card you're using.

Its all upto date with drivers and its a Ati x800xt so no problems there.

Any ideas

The only other thing to check is that the DVD drive is running in UDMA mode in 'Device Manager'. Either that or you're MPEG-2 codec needs updating.

I used to get that with PowerDVD. Switched to WinDVD and it's fine for me. Oh and I use an ATi X800XT PE.

Sorted tryed WinDVD and yes everything worked fine, Windows media player was using 100% cpu when playing the DVD so that was the problem will get some codecs for WMA to see if it sorts that out.

DVD playback requires very little processing or powerful graphics accelerators, unless the application is attempting to use an alternative codec to play the media. More often than not, only a handful of codecs are required to view DVD or converted media, such as XViD, DiVx and MPEG.
