Default disabling integrated graphics

I have a Dell Dimension 3100 (3 months old ) with an Intel integrated Graphics Media Accelerator Video card , Which I'm lead to believe is part of the mother board . If I were to buy a better Graphics card to slot in the PC is it easy to disable the integrated one .

Many thanks for any help

Dave

yep should be dooable in BIOS, when the system boots, you usually press F2 or the del key to get into into it. May be different on Dell's but it should tell you the button to press to get into BIOS. Then its a case of disabling on board graphics in the options

edited to add just checked and its F2 or del for a dimention dell machine

Thanks for that Mike ,do I slot in a new card before or after doing this ? I'm no expert but have changed a few cards on older PC' s before. Any suggestions for a reasonable card? Main reasons for wanting to cahnge the card is that we have a 17" wide screen TV to use as a monitor , but the graphics chip doesn't seem compatable (Stretches the picture and makes it blurred) and doesn't have the ability to change the settings .

Sorry to be a pest

Plug the new card in and switch on and enter bios, disable it, select save and exit, I would then switch it off and on to be on the safe side. Windows should then detect the new card and ask for the driver cd
