Is my laptop F****D
I have a Samsung M40, last night, laptop crashed.
I somehow managed to get XP to reinstall now it has crashed again
Previous to reinstalling Xp I was getting error messages as follows:
1 Windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt: <winnt root>\System32\ Ntoskrnl.exe.
2 Windows could not start because of an error in the software
Load needed DLL's for Kernel
3 TRAP 00000006 exception TR=0028 cr0=0000000011, cr2=00000000, cr3=000000000 GDT limit=03ff base=00017000 idt limit=07ff base=00017400 CS:eip=0008:08000000 ss:esp=0010:00061fec errcode=0000 flags=000100012 nocy nozr intdis down trapdis eax=0000110c ebx0003001d5 ecx=00001660 cdx=534d0030 ds-0010 es=0010 edi=00350000 exi=00051db6 ebp=00061ff0 cr0=00000011 fs=0030 gs=0000
These are three examples of messages that occurred I then reinstalled, the laptop crashed and I am again getting the same messages.
I want to add I have no option on my system to "repair" I have also read I may have Faulty CPU, Memory, HDD.
Any ideas????????

I have had this problem before i had to format the hard disk prior to installation.
(using the c:>prompt)
Xp disk wouldnt overwrite the files already installed and it wouldnt format the disk fully, so i did mine manually and all went well!
Use c:>format c
You may have to change drive letter to d:> to format c drive.
Hope this helps
P.S. Is also known to be caused by a dead hard disk

Would be worth doing a full format of drive before re-instaling.
Also, there is a memory tester (memtest) and some hdd testers - that should give you a better idea of what is causing the problem. It could be CPU but I'd look at memory and HDD first.
The Ultimate Boot CD (UBCD) has all kinds of testing software (But you'll have to goole it, as I'm off out right now so haven't time to find URL's!!)

tried your xp cd ?
When booting there should be an option for command prompt!
Are you still getting the boot errors?
If you are the F8 key WILL work @ boot screen.
1. power on lappy
2. as text appears on screen (loading drives, memory test etc) press F8 keep tapping F8
3. tap tap tap tap tap tap tap tap tap tap tap tap tap tap tap.
4. you should then see options for safe mode etc.
5. choose command prompt option.

How did you re-install you're XP? Did you boot up straight from the CD and followed the instructions? Or did you let you're previous XP install boot up and then stick your CD in?

change your startup settings in the mobo BIOS usually 'DELETE or F8'
to 1st boot device CD and second boot device to HDD1.
When the system runs its checks it should say press any key to boot from CD... press a key.
Choose the options to install a fresh copy of XP install on the same partition as your previous version.
When it asks you select format using quick NTFS
Should let you install it, if not take a hammer... cough cough, i mean screw driver and take it apart and you may find alot, and I mean alot of dust and crumbs and various other stuff in there, try your best to give a good clean (not using anything wet) usually blowing alot does the trick!
Couldve been an overheating problem!
I had it with my tower, GFX cards overheating and a dodgey connection on the HDD. cleaned and now all is fine!

Sounds to me that possibly XP requires a specific driver, and maybe why you're getting the BSDs.

Just to up date took lappy apart and cleaned out, put back to gether and re-installed XP, within a few minutes lappy auto re-started and came up with
"Windows could not start because of an error in the software
Load needed DLL's for Kernel"
And so back to square one

Update,
Looks like my CPU has died, but it is a soldered one which basically means I need a new motherboard aswell!!
Can anyone recommend a decent board and CPU that will be compatible with my laptop??
