What is an OAM test on an ADSL router?
I've been having a problem with our BB Wanadoo line for a week now.
I have a home network connected via a Dlink G604T ADSL router which refused to connect to ADSL one morning.
The router interface offers "OAM" testing but I can't find any information about what the test proves.
Initially the F4 end to end and seg tests failed, but the F5 tests passed.
I installed the "official" Speedtouch USB modem to get at least one PC online and rang Wanadoo.
Speedchecking the ADSL line shows download speeds no more than 95 kbps for a 1.1 Mbps line....
They have called out BT to carry out a line test after detecting a low dB signal. After messing me around, BT turn up today and carry out a speech line test?!? This showed no fault and BT have closed down the fault job.
I am still getting pathetic download speeds.
Reconnecting the G604T, I find that both F4 & F5 tests fail and I can't connet to ADSl, yet the Speedtouch will connect (albeit very slowly).
The modems are locate in differnt rooms to differnet telephone sockets.
Are OAM tests checking the BB connection or just the home LAN system?
Could my fault be nearer to home within the house cabling?

Although this doesn't answer the 'OAM' testing i take it you're Wanadoo settings are the same as this:

Thanks for that but I found out it was duff wiring in the house.
In trying to find out the fault, I had the misfortune of using Wanadoo/Orange "technical" helpline. It consisted of me having to repeatedly phone some monkeys out in India who would not deviate from a fault finding flow chart.
The final one was so inexperienced that I could hear him being prompted on his headphones by a trainer on EVERY question.
They also called out BT to check the line. After 2 missed appoointments they called my wife (who had waited in for them) to say they had performed the "voice" line check remotely and didn't need to pay a visit after all -Grrrr.
BTW, getting back to my original question, does ANYONE know what an OAM test is?
