i've got an old HP re-writer that worked fine last time i used it but today it won't work!

green light is on and it ejects, but it won't read the disc and doesn't seem to be listed in 'my computer'

the other drive in the computer is recognised even though it's broken and i don't use it

thinking about it, the last time i was using it to do some music cd's it wasn't being recognized by media player but if i restarted the computer it was eventually recognized

sounds a bit flakey, but can i try anything?

buy a new one there so cheap these days, and do an u/g to a dvd burner..

pioneer do a cracking one for £30 notes

cheers mart, went on ebay after i posted and yeah, you're right they are a bit cheap!

bid on some external usb thing but then got all adventurous and took the sides off the tower (this is big for me) took off the connections, gave it a dusting etc and **** me it now works

now watch me win the auction for something i (at the mo) don't need!
