Default Linksys Wireless Router WRT54G

My router seems to have just stopped working wirelessly.

I've turned off all security etc, reset to factory settings but it just won't show up in available networks on the wireless cards (both pda and laptop so its not that thats faulty).

Hard wired connections work fine and everything looks ok - WLAN light is active etc.

Anyone got any thoughts of what else I can try or a way of seeing if its actually emitting a signal?

Tried Linksys but not the most helpful site or cust service

Have you added any new wireless devices in the house such as a cordless phone? Maybe worth changing the Channel to say 11 and then rebooting the router.

By checking the web interface, is your wireless actually enabled ?
is the SSID broadcast enabled ??

Try here for the router setup etc

I've tried changing the channels (was on 11, found neighbour is using it but never mattered before) so tried the default of 6 and also 1. Wireless is enabled according to the router (and its on on my laptop) and SSID broadcast is set to enable.

I get a feeling the actual wireless has gone caput

Install Network Stumbler and/or Airsnort and see if you can see it. Airsnort pretty much captures any Wireless in the area.

Mine overheated and lost the wireless connection as it wasn't properly vented. Linksys replaced it by DHL courier.

I had to turn off my wireless networking on my Mac though, then turn it on again... Dont bin it just yet!

if you do have to swap it the WAG54GX2 works a treat - even with my 'old' 3com 11g card I'm getting a 30% signal where previously there was none ...

Steve

Edit - just realised you just need the router - WAP54GX
