Why is it a naff name? It's got everyone talking about it, so surely it's worked as planned
Sorely tempted to get one of these. It's a good looking bit of kit...

I'm sure their pretentious marketing department thought it was a great idea, but it just doesn't translate well in english. Respect due for what they are setting out to do though, unlike Sony and their poor attempt this time around.

I still say it's all down to the marketing. The name "revolution", whilst more conventional, is hardly attention grabbing. The name Wii has generated an insane amount of interest in the console from people who had never heard of it before.
There's an old saying ... "There's no such thing as bad publicity", and from the debates this name has caused, I have to agree...

But will it flop like the gamecube did?
Its really the Nintendo fan boys who love it, where most of the games are really pap to be honest apart from the resident evil series.
They didnt market the gamecube enough in this country when it came out, they need to actually do something this time or its going the same way as the cube.

At least the games for recent Nintendo systems have been innovative instead of the constant stream of sports / driving / shooters you see on every other console. But yes, I agree they're on the whole crap I can't see me needing a Wii anytime soon though

There are very few innovative games on any platform, be it pc, gc, ps2, xbox etc. There have been more than usual on the nintendo machines though. Whether you personally like them or not is irrelevant. At least they are brave enough to try something different.

Because right now we're still using the same friggin' joysticks and input devices for games that we were back in the 80's
Its about time someone moved things on, in a games world obsessed with graphics.
