Yes, I developed with it for many years. It does have ODBC drivers and there used to be an add on tool called FlexQL which would allow you to extract data from it. It also comes with it's own querying tool called DFQUERY. I stopped developing with it when it moved into Windows (I changed jobs) but it was a very powerful tool back in those days. Parent company are called Data Access Corporation from Miami - http://www.dataaccess.com/home.asp?pageid=700

Hope this helps.

I just noticed you're from NI. Does the name Ian Larmour ring any bells in relation to this particular application?

You might even be working on one of my old systems LOL!

Should be easy enough if it's using the DOS version or you can lay your hands on the Windows equivalent of DFQUERY as it can dump data out to a comma delimited file for importing to Excel. The Windows version might even have an export option already built in. Good luck !

The windows version (Visual DataFlex) has DFQ built in. I didn't realise that anyone outside the civil service had ever heard of DataFlex - I spent a year testing DataFlex Dos apps on Visual DataFlex before a Windows 3.1 rollout. Money was good but fek me was it mind numbingly boring. IIRC it should be 5 minutes work to export it to comma delimited format and then you can do what you want with it in Excel. (Probably take you two days to get the format of the command exactly correct before you do the 5 minutes work though)

I was developing point-of-sale applications with a back-end Sales/Purchase/Nominal ledgers and stock control system. Plenty of clients in the Fashion retail industry and we were able to customize it for use in Wine and Spirit merchants, toy stores, and all sort of other places too.
