Default Help with Ipod please

Plugged my Ipod in last night & a screen popped up saying Ipod software out of date, click to update. Did this and next screen said plug in Ipod. It was already & the Ipod screen showed an icon of a plug & socket.

Tried to unplug it & plug it back in but nothing. Comp screen showed update intro but nothing highlighted so I could only close it down. Now pressing the Ipod nothing works & only the plug & socket screen comes up. I have opened Itunes but again, the Ipod is not showing as available?

Help, I have nothing but trouble each time I try & update this or itunes

cheers Simon

When you say it's plugged-in, is it plugged into a PC/Mac or the actual wall socket using the Apple power adapter?

It needs to be the later for the software upgrade to complete.

you need to reset it, cant remember the procedure, check the owners manual

try this

1. Make sure that iPod is plugged into AC power or your Mac via FireWire. or usb on pc

2. Toggle the Hold switch on and off.

3. Press the Play/Pause and Menu buttons at the same time until the Apple logo appears onscreen.

4. The iPod has been reset.

No you dont it needs to be connected to the mains or via firewire to a computer so that it can complete the firmware update.

a reset wont do anything
