Lightbulb HCI in NHS - is it a good deal?

The Home Computing Initiative with NHS... http://www.ithealth.co.uk/content/SpringHCI.htm

They seem to want to add in all the product support & everything taking the cost of a HP ZD8303 to 1477.80 - but after not having to pay high rate tax & stuff it works out at £871.92 spread over 3 years...

Compare with buying directly from HP website http://h10010.www1.hp.com/wwpc/uk/en...-64398611.html at £899 inc delivery

Is it worth the bother?

Cheers

You also get three year warranty so if add that on to the high street price, it's a not bad deal, add on finance and it's a very good deal.

If you've got a grand lying around, get it off the net, I didn't so went HCI

BUT - check out the thread in NSR, seems any after April 6th will lose some of the tax benefits. Not sure on the details but needs checking out.

Thumbs up

Yeah - that's what I figured...

You get a years warranty off HP anyway - The extra 2 yrs 'support' doesn't really interest me - esp at that price

3 yrs credit - not really fussed either - also the machine legally belongs to NHS after 3yrs you have to buy it off them (if they agree to sell it to you??? ) at not more than 5% of original purchase price... - £75???

I'd probaby want to go for the Office Pro 2003 suite again... So the bundled Works software is superfluous...

Decisions, decisions...

We got the latest works with photo suite, encarta, autoroute, money etc but Office as well due to the licence the firm has.

Convenient low(ish) payments suit me much more than lump sums, especially if they come off at source and I don't have to remember to leave enough in the current account for DDs etc.
I've been very happy with the deal as have loads of others.

Dunno about the NHS one but I work for DSGi ( Dixons) and it worked out well for me. The tax relief was very nice thank you and it worked by voucher system redeemable at any PC World which made it nice and easy to walk in and pick up what I wanted.

Who is the NHS scheme run by ? I know the one run for Enfield council who may mate and girlfriend work for doesn't look as good.

OK got it. No it doesn't look very good in my opinion. Very restrictive range of products and who on earth are the supplier, never heard of them and I've been in IT for 18 years.
