Ok quick dumb *** question about mac keyboards
Where the **** is the # on a Powerbook???? I need it to input my email password.
Also, how do you get it to show all the wireless connections available? I'm assuming that it can use a standard ADSL wireless connection just like a pc.
And how sleek and sexy are powerbooks!!! I hadn't seen 1 in a while and I'd forgotton.

Simon,
Hash is probably going to be option/alt + 3
As for wireless connections. Go into System Preferences, then Network, from the "Show" menu select "Airport" then select the "Show Airport status in menu bar" option. A little icon will appear in the menu, from which you should be able to see and select any wireless network.

I spent a good while looking as I use #'s quite often. Couldn't find it. There's a thing called Character Palette that might help.
My iMac has an icon top right for Wireless, works just fine on my previously PC network.

Cheers Markus.
I already have that enabled, and it couldn't find any, guessing I have no network around me then (was only going to be a test untill my router turns up)
Is there any differance between Panther and Tiger?

Apart from the funny sounding names, yes there are a hell of a lot of differences between Panther (10.3) and Tiger (10.3). Some have said there's a bit of spit and polish and that is all, and from the user perspective, that's somewhat true, but under the hood a hell of a lot has changed. We had to completely re-write our client side software to work with Tiger, so it wasn't just a tiny little change here and there
It's a bit more memory hungry than Panther, but it is better, and if you can upgrade, I'd recommend it. As with any platform, being on the latest release always helps.
Leopard (10.5) is, allegedly, being shown at the Apple Worldwide Developers Conference in August, and so a release would probably be due around late Q1 2007. Hopefully developer preview versions will ship after the conf, so I can get to play with it and see what they have changed, and how much work is required to get things working.

Will have to upgrade then. Time for a phone call after payday then.
1 thing I have found, is that trackpad is going to send me up the wall after prolonged use, so I need a mouse, so recomendations please.
And any referance to a cartoon character will result in a slap (but am considering that mouse)

Any USB mouse should do the job. I've used a logitech one with no issues. The Mac even adapts to the right button, using it for "control" click's.
Am currently using an Apple Mighty Mouse. It's ok, but the right button on it is just not right, so am using USB Overdrive to change the assignment of the right button.

Yup, might have to wait a month before I get it though, I think I might have already spent enough this month Mac's ain't cheap.
Now for another daft question.
Is there any way of getting a similar setup to the windows preview of jpgs with explorer? I'm a tog and shoot raw and jpg (windows cant preview raws with any stability) and it means I can go through the enitre folder and preview the pics deleting the junk as I go, leaving only good ones.
Can I get my mac to do this too? I can get it to open the folders but no thumbnails, and I don't particularly want to have to import the jpgs into iphoto and faff about moving raws to another folder. Under windows the jpgs and raws appear together (same filename just diff extensions) and I can move both to another folder. ie: 1st choice, 2nd choice etc and so on.

there are three buttons in the finder window to the right of the < > buttons.
Click the right hand one to view the disk in hierachical mode, obviously it will show a preview if the file has one but other than that I think you're stuffed.
Might be a 3rd party app to do this... (iPhoto )
Photoshop will wont it? Cant you move files in its browser?
I await to be corrected
