does anyone know what an average broadband usage per day is?
bit of a how long is a piece of string question, but i'm new to broadband (1 day!) and i seem to be using alot more than i thought i would.
only been on it for about 18 hrs and i've racked up over 160 MB already. granted i've been updating windows and other software i couldn't be arsed to do on dial up, but i've got a cap of 2000MB and it seems to be spiraling up today just surfing.
any ideas what an average usage is?

depends what you are doing with it. General surfing and the occasional update should be around your 2gig.
given that lots of people pick up US tv series, music & films as well I saw a report the other day that reckoned the 'average' for the uk was around 9Gig per month.

looking at downloading some music soon so might be looking at the next package up methinks.

I got told off by tiscali for hitting 10gb in a month
i have an unlimited account, but must limit or restrict my downloads between 6pm and 11pm daily, other than that, its fair game

i'm with Tiscali,2meg with unlimited download,i steered away from others with limited download as i quickly realised i would use my quota with just run of the mill surfing and that would be without downloading series 2 of Lost
As for Tiscali telling you off, surely unlimited should just mean just that!!

if you are just web surfing, 2 gig should be fine.
windows update should be a one off hit
i doubt 10 gig is for an avergae user.
10 gig and upwards is only necessary when you are illegally downloading movies which are usually 0.7gig each

I'm on around 35 GB a month - probably more but I don't worry about the off peak usage (midnight to 8am). When you download full DVD's at over 4 gigs a shot it doesn't take long to rack up the miles.
