Laptop problem...serious ???
When I turn my IBM Thinkpad on, I get a black screen with then message "A disc read error has occured. Press Ctrl+Alt+Del to restart"
When you do, you get the same message.
Any ideas ?

Just gone into the BIOS, what should I be looking for? There is :
Config
Date/Time
Password
Startup
Restart
All with sub-menus. Had a look around & all seems OK - but not really sure what to be looking for - any advice ?

in the config there should be an option that says something like IDE, ATA something like that and it will display what drives you have connected to your machine which should be a hard drive and optical drive (DVD drive etc)

Failing that have you the IBM manual? If not, try having a look it on www.ibm.com
