Default Paypal help

Just flogged a couple of items on Ebay for some silly money

A couple of questions I wondered if anyone can answer.

1 - I have received a couple of emails saying payment has been made. I assume that means to my PayPal account? And that I can now post the item safely knowing I have the funds?

2 - Some bloke has bought an item that I said I would ship to the UK only. This guy is based in India (with an Indian shipping address) and has no previous comments. Does this stink? And can't imagine £15 will cover postage to India for a laptop, so assuming payment does come through to PayPal, then once it's through then the money's mine, yes?

(email from buyer - Hello,
i am committed to buy your item due to the fact that i want to present the package to my son living in oversea for his birthday gift.kindly get back to me with shipping cost to the adress below;

ABIOYE DAVID
NIPOST C/O MRST.A OJO
OGBOMOSO
OYO STATE
NIGERIA.
I AM PAYING YOU WITH MY PAYPAL ACCOUNT.)
Interestingly, his registered address is in Bombay or whatever it's called now!

Any advice much appreciated, particularly as I have a habit of getting ripped off on auction sites...

In answer to question 1, if the buyer has a confirmed UK address, you should be covered with up to £500 seller protection. Check in your Paypal Account to be sure.

As for question 2, I would be very, very weary of that. I say refuse to sell to him. Has all the hallmarks of a scam.

In future, don't allow anyone outside UK to bid. You can set this in your preferences.

If you have specified UK delivery only then you're perfectly within eBay's T&C's to reject his bid and offer the goods to the next highest bidder.

It's also within eBay's T&C's that if you've specified a price for UK delivery then it's okay to increase the delivery charge for overseas.

Personally if it's an expensive item, won by somebody with no feedback and there's confusion over their address ie: India or Nigeria then I'd reject their bid and not take the risk.

Are you seriously considering that this is NOT a scam?

No, of course not! Was just curious as to how much it's going to cost! Will be relisting it, unsurprisingly!

First rule of thumb ..never click on links sent via emails from third partys it may not be the web site you think you are going on to even if it looks like it.
Type in www.paypal.com and log in to your account and any transactions to your account will be there,if not you have not been paid,if its there the moneys yours.
