server 2003 noob question

server 2003 noob question
ok
not a server guy but can somebody help
one file server on domain xxxxxx with ip addy of xxx.xxx.x.xxx
just starting to install a new file server yesterday on server 2003
got it up and running , can see the network , can join a workgroup but when i try to select it on the main company domain, i get an error message
looked at the other file server and have all the same details
what have i forgot

Things to check..
The account you are running dcpromo with has domain admin permissions.
You can ping the server.
DNS server IP address is correct.
my home domain is called wallis2000.local, and I only have the one domain controller (192.168.0.111) so...
C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator>nslookup wallis2000.local
Server: 2003server.wallis2000.local
Address: 192.168.0.111
Name: wallis2000.local
Address: 192.168.0.111
I'd be 90% sure its a DNS problem.
Also make sure you run the same service packs on all DC's
and if they are on different subnets, dont forget to configure them in AD sites and services.
