Default Norton anti-virus - always detects at renewal time

Is it just coincidence that for the last three years the only time the kit detects and subsequently quarantines/fixes a virus is at subscription renewal time. Sophisticated renewal ploy or a random, unlikely happening

Sounds a bit too coincidental to me, examine the log and see what the attack was supposed to be from, then do a search for info on it I'm sure if it's a common ploy someone will have logged it by now.

I'm not a fan of Norton or McAfee. There are so many free anti-virus programs about, including Microsoft Beta which as far as I can tell is pretty much the same.

Microsoft Spyware beta does not find all Malware only some spyware it is only updated once a month so any new Malware will be sitting on your machine

Even Microsoft says on there web site

Install an antivirus program and update it on a regular basis.

Any Free AV is not updated regularly and New new Malware was going around last week AVG FOC was not updated to the following day

McAfee was already picking this up the with a year old Signiture File
