Default Dropping Broadband Connection

I have got two XP laptops running through a Netgear DG834G wireless router. One laptop works spot on the other repeatedly drops its internet (broadband) connection every 10 - 15 mins.

I have tried everything i can think of to fix the problem but i have come to the conclusion i am out of my depth.

Has anyone got any ideas ??

Turn the router off for 10 Min's then back on again , I have the same router and it works for me

Also I have started turning mine off at night now and the connection next morning is significantly faster.

I don't have any issues here with my DG834 two lappies and two desktops. I suspect crappy drivers on your 2nd laptop. Goto the manufacturers website, or to the site for the make of the wifi chipset/card to see if you can get updated drivers.

Thanks guys.

I have now fixed the problem by deleting and reinstalling the drivers. I still had issues which i have eventually traced back to my Norton Antivirus 2005.

If any one has the same issues the answer is to delete the drivers, instal the latest live update software from Norton then reinstall the drivers.

Everything now fine.

Mike.
