Did it update completely with no errors ?
Have you tried taking power out, and also the battery, leave it out for a few minutes, then put it all back together again and try again ?
Sometimes a bios update needs all power removed to reboot properly "
Fingers crossed !

think so, got to the point where it required to restart, then it powered off and that was the end of it !!
spoke to HP and they reckon it could well be a new motherboard job, which i imagine makes it only good for the bin !!
really pissed off, cost 1700quid a few years ago, now won't even turn on !!!

I take it you had the power supply plugged in and switched on when you did this process? If not sounds like the battery ran out of juice part way through the update process. Which means a buggered BIOS.
