I created a backup of a DVD using my PC. Tool used was DVDShrink, and wrote the film to DVD-R using my nice new DVD writer. All well and good.

This disk plays in my MR DVD player OK. However, it doesn't play on my g/f's DVD player (1 yr old, DVD/Vid combo).

Anyone suggest why?

 

Is it the right Media ie +R or -R for the DVD player ?

 

What make is the DVD player?

Not all can play DVD-Rs.

The fact it plays on your MR DVD player tells me the problem is likely to lie with your girlfriends DVD player.
