New Widgets for Dashboard (Google, Address Book, Calendar).
Mac OS X 10.4.4 (might bode well for intel machines, as code sync between PPC and Intel was reachd in 10.4.3, but there have been a couple of tweaks - Rosetta for Altivec, Intel iTunes, and a few other things - since 10.4.3, and they'll be in 10.4.4)

One More Thing...
Showing a Powerbook G4. Trying to shoehorn a G5 into the Powerbook. We've done everything possible...
But power consumption....
No more Powerbook. Intel duo Core.
New laptop computer.
Today - MacBook Pro
Aahhhhhhh - and there it is......

Well, all in all, not a bad little Keynote. iMac and Macbook look like stunning new products (will order one/both as soon as the boss is in tomorrow) and in particular the Macbook is going to help Apple capture the laptop market, which they have been missing out on without a really powerfull laptop, and now they have it.

Jowl,
I'd say they were just rumors. Though, of course, the powerbook is replaced with the Macbook. There might be an update to the iBook range, and Macbook is a "Pro" level product and iBook is consumer level, but I doubt it. Of course, with the new macbook out there, ibooks should see a price drop as everyone clamours for the new machines.

They do look rather nice. Am told iWeb will be right up my street, will have to have a peek at it later.
Just found a mini-dvi to VGA connector that came with my ibook, and from the looks of things, i can use this to extend my desktop on the new iMac. Perfect, dual monitors from day one, and possibly higher resolutions on the existing monitor I have.

In theory you can simply boot into XP...
Also Google claim to be 'working on' a mac version of Earth anyway.
Anyone found any info on running Windoze on the Intel Mac?
I intend to upgrade my PC and need a new Mac laptop so this will be the ideal solution.

Was hoping they were going to announce an Intel Mac Mini but alas...
If you can dual boot to XP & Tiger on a PowerMac when they come out I think I'll hold off for one of those instead...

For getting XP onto an Intel based mac, well, let me ask my co worker when he's awake as he's the one with the DTK (Developer Transition Kit) and he was running XP on it. I think it was a case of repartitioning the machine and then getting a bootloader onto it. However, you would need graphics drivers for the cards, which might not be around yet.
I'm sure once the machines are in peoples hands there will be a wealth of info on how to get them to run XP, and I don't think it'll be too difficult. I'll certainly be trying it when the machine turns up.
Danny,
No, the machines being intel based does not mean they will run windows apps. The machines will only ship with Mac OS X installed on them, they will not be dual boot by default, and Apple will not providing support or information on how to make them dual boot, that'll be for us to find out. The machines are Macintosh computers, so they'll only run Macintosh applications.
There will no doubt be upgrades to PC emulators for the mac, such as Virtual PC, and I'd expect the speed of emulation to be a hell of a lot higher, as they won't need to do that much emulation as the underlying chipset is now intel, but we'll have to wait and see.

Out of interest, what are the speed comparisons of the processors in these new macs to the dual core processors that have been around in pcs for a while now? Just wondered how one of these new macs would stack up against my dual core amd 64 4800+, or the intel pentium extreme processor based machines...
