Well I grabbed a copy of this yesterday and after the 3hours it takes to install, yes that's 3 hours !! It's very poor...

Graphically it looks just like the 2/3 year old PS2 game that it is and it does nothing for the 360. It doesn't use xbox live ( uses it's own network called Playonline Viewer ) so there is no voice over live, everything has to be inputted via a USB keyboard... Gave it an hour and just couldn't get into it...

May suit the die hard FF fans, but not my cup of tea....

The 360 games line up is extremely poor, and doesnt do anything to make me want to buy a 360 just yet. I was hoping this game would be great, but it sounds terrible.

Roll on the PS3, Microsoft have dropped a bollock with the crappy launch line up

What makes you think the PS3 launch line up will be any better?

I thought the 360 line up was actually quite good. Sure there's a load of sequels, and there's a couple of turkeys in there, but there are also some good ones in there. Amped 3 is great, as are COD2 and Kameo, and Geometry wars is now officially my favourite game on any platform

I haven't touched my PS2 for months now as there hasn't been a decent game released on it for soooo long now

Call of Duty 2 is simply stunning - the best game I've played for a long time - probably worth buying the 360 for that alone. Can't seem to play it for long periods at a time though as its almost too intense - end up with a headache!

Yes, the line up could have been better, but what console has ever come out with a great launch line up? Xbox - nope, PSP Definately nope, PS1 - nope, PS2 nope, DS - nope.

Anyone know whats in the pipeline though, apart from Halo3?

You can all justify the 360 as much as you like, but having only 10 or so games on launch and nothing else since is just dire

Dont know if the PS3 will have a decent line up, but at least the competition will be there so they will both have to pull their fingers out.

Sorry, but anyone that thinks the 10 x average 360 launch titles are something to shout about is just kidding themselves into justifying the £300 outlay

I may buy one if the games line up gets better, but I dont see anything to attract me to it yet, esepcially with PGR3 only having supercars.

We're not all made of money though, so going out and buying every launch title @ £45 a pop isn't really an option any how.
You can almost guarantee that the PS3 (when it eventually comes out in the UK) will be priced around the same as the 360 and the games (Metal Gear Solid 31, Lastest Movie Tie in, GT5-no damage etc etc released 2009 ) will be just as dear and the 360 games, especially if Sony decide to make the consoles as loss leaders.

I'm not on about cost or buying all games though, i'm talking about games choice, there just isn't enough yet.

would agree, but as I said earlier, what new console has ever had a decent library of launch titles?

Despite the limited choice, there are a few excellent quality titles in there, which, in my mind, makes it worth the cost (COD2 for example)

Huh ? There were 18 Xbox360 launch titles. Xbox1 had 19 at launch, seems pretty reasonable to me.

Ok, so how many above average games has the PS2 got then? I bought a slimline PS2 just over a year ago, and since then I've bought about 10 games for it, and I now only play a couple of those regularly. The only game I've played on it which I've really enjoyed was God of War. All the others were just ordinary and frankly, boring.

Since getting the 360, I've played more console games than I think I have in the last year on the old xbox and ps2 combined!!! It's a great machine, with some excellent launch games...

I'm not really interested in the PS2 in this discussion as I dont go for the PS/Xbox argument thing, owning both machines, and this is not meant to be a Xbox vs PS thing, not for me anyway.

I just think its dissapointing that the 360 hasn't made more of a mark, and as for launch games i've only seen about 10 on the high street so far, and the only ones vaguely of interest are COD and PGR3, I would've thought there would have been more released by now, thats all.

But you seemed to be suggesting that the PS3 is bound to have better launch games, when I was just demonstrating that if they can't make decent games for their well established old system, how can you expect them to make good ones for the new one?

There are more games available than 10 for the 360, (not all of them good), and as already said in this thread, compared to previous console launches from any company (microsoft, sony, nintendo, sega etc), there are actually more decent games in there than are usually included in a launch lineup. The console has only been on release for a month, so you can hardly expect a vast amount of new stuff appearing straight away...

Having said that, we should be hopefully getting RR6 and DOA4 before the end of the month, and there are some excellent looking games slated for a bit later in the year.

If you you don't want to buy one then don't. For those of us who have, it's great

Fight Night Round 3 is out soon - check the demo out for what's, IMO, a real next gen title. Absolutely wicked!

Talking

almost finished COD2 last night - on the final level. Is it a short game or have I just spent too much time on it?

Will probably go back and play it all again sometime, and theres not many games I'd say that for (in fact I cant think of any of the top of my head)

Anyone downloaded Gauntlet yet from XB live? Great bit of retro gaming nostalgia! (Playing it with my 2 eldest sons (4 and 6)) "Elf, your life force is running out....."

I found COD2 is fairly short on the normal level... It's a whole different ball game on Veteran level though, seriously hard in places........
