Default Alienware or Rock!

Hi,

I've decided to take the plunge and go for a "desktop replacement" laptop.

I live between 2 places and need something that is portable yet capable of being a serious gaming platform.

I've decided on the spec.....FX57, 7800gtx, 2gig ram, 2x100gig SATA Raid-0, 17" wugxa....etc.

I've looked at what both Alienware and Rock have to offer. For the same spec machine, Rock seem to do it for around £400 cheaper. The Alienware costs £3000+tax and the Rock £2600+tax.

Has anyone got any previous experience with either companies? I know that the Rock model looks more appealing, but i dont want to have to send it back after a few months if it goes **** up and commits suicide. I also want to make the right decision in purchasing from a manufacturer that has a good proven track record with customer support and will be just a phone call away should i need some help. I've heard on the grapevine that Alienware aren't to hot in this area?

Also, is the FX57 worth it or would i be better getting an x2 4800+. I'm led to believe that the fx59 will be out soon aswell, any idea if thats true?

Any thoughts would be appreciated!

Cheers,
Doug.

What about this for consideration:

A bit cheaper than the others.

Had a look at the XPS but doesn't meet the spec of the Rock/Alienware models. It is cheaper though but i've decided for once to get the best i can and splash the cash!

Since its being used primarily for gaming and music, i thought that the FX57 would be the better proccessor to opt for. I've seen benchmark tests for both and the FX57 wins over the X2 for games but gets beaten in other respects. I dont know if i would notice a difference though and thinking about it, the X2 4800 should still rock with a 256mb GTX. Decisions decisions....!
