Default Internet connection problems..........................................

Guys

I'm having problems with my phone line which results in constant dropping of internet connection. Also getting a lot of noise from the phone line. Tried phoning BT helpline upteen times but they keep palming me of to another dept. Getting really pi$$ed off.

Just thought if anyone here can help me.

Cheers

First things to try. 1).. Just try plugging in the MODEM cable into the Phone socket. More than one device can make a noisy line.
2).. Trying not using a very large extention cable. The longer the less power your getting to the MODEM and back.

Apart from that can't suggest anything else. I'm afraid BT are your only hope for the outside wire leading out of the house.

How many devices have you got with filters?
It could be one of your filters, go with what Jpor said, just add your modem first, disconnect your phone line, see if thats better, then add the next filter and your phone.

Not as easy as that, using said number and that option will test the line from the MDF outwards, ie after the exchange, which will include a couple of k's worth of wire and then the street furniture, then to the house, you unfortunately cannot test the house line only in this manner
17070 is a line test facility to aid a BT engineer, it will not give conclusive results unless you know what your doing (plus there are a few other things you may need to cross reference in the process).

Can it be the modem? It's an old BT Voyager 100 and I've had it for about 2 years now. Just changed the filters for new ones and changed the cables to the BT phone socket but still the same.

Please help.

You could try another MODEM just in-case. Can you not borrow one?

Apart from that you will need to speak with BT to get your line checked.
