Default Wireless network but No MSN messenger?

Got my wireless network working. No WEP but only accepts devices whose mac addreses I have typed in.

BUT, when I try to log on msn messenger it wont connnect, it then runs the msn connection trouble shooter, all is ok exept for the key ports?

Any ideas folks?

ideally, the router should allow out TCP port 1863 for messenger. There are more ports for sending files and the like. I just checked your previous post and see you have a netgear. By default this will allow all ports out (99% sure on that), so if the router is using standard settings then this should work. Does the internet work on wireless, and secure sites such as online banking. Messenger will use these ports if it cant use the default one.
Another thing is wheather you have a plug and play firewall, this called for short UPnP. The actual messenger service should work regardless though.
Finally does this work when using a wired connection?
