They probably don't like you and have selected the "Appear Offline" option

OK guys, seriously - I've just done a total flush of PC. Re-installed MSN7.5, and everybody is showing as "Offline"

I've even got it running on a different PC (under a different name) - neither can I see, or be seen

I'm guessing it's a router/firewall thing as on my internal network I can see/be seen. Anyone outside (internet) can't.... what's the problem?

I'm out of my depth now

HELP!!!!

Dan

bttt for the morning crew

After some "Light" reading last night, it seems that I've got some ports to allow through......

If I run the "network setup wizard", that address the issues? (just a stab in the dark)

OR on an Origo 8400, how do you input port settings into the Virtual Server? Tried last night, but kept saying something about "no IP"

Besides, all was working before - not too sure what's change though

Any assistance would be brilliant

If you want to check its the firewall, put your PC in DMZ for a few mins and run MSN on it. If it then works fine, it's your firewall/router settings.

I do not use any port forwarding for my MSN, and aside from making transfers go slow (they have to go thru the server) it all works fine.

Your router should have a DMZ option. Basically all incoming traffic which doesn't meet a port-forward rule is forwarded straight to that IP. Obviously if its not a server you don't want to leave it like that - but it would rule out the firewall/router.

For anyone who's interested, I've sorted the problem -

A messed up MSN account!!!

Just registered witha different email, and "hey presto!"

Is there any easy way to port over your contacts from one ID to another?

"Bl00dy Micro$haft!!"

Contacts menu - Save Contacts.

Then into the new account Contacts -> Import Contact List.
