Default How to do complete wipe before reinstall

Have a compaq with Pentium 4 550 and 1GB of RAM which has been playing up - freezing and not able to shut down.
Did a system restore and lost most of my files - DOH!!
Still not right - have discs I created when first loaded up to reboot and was wondering how to do a complete wipe of system before I start this.
Has two drives a C: of 228GB and a D: of 4GB.
Should I use a nuke disc or will the full reinstall do everything I need.
Thanks in advance.

If it's a typical shop built pc then I suspect the 4GB partition is your "backup" or recovery disk info.
The supplied diskette's should have the option to "recover" or "reinstall" your pc to an "as purchased" condition.
Along with all the ****e they install that you dont want .... sorry ranting there.

XP cd rules now

It used to be FDisk first and then "FORMAT C:/s" lol
I think those days are long gone though.
