IT Temp work in London
Hey peeps,
I have a mate who is planning on heading over to the UK in summer from Aus to learn what good lager and decent curries are .
He has a shed load of good experience in the IT industry along the following lines
Project management – Hotel PABX / computing infrastructure deployment, Switching upgrade to 8 Site WAN (1000 node), Pabx / computing infrastructure deployment new theme park, switching upgrade to Movie Studio environment (17 site / 700 node)
Software & Hardware – Windows NT/2000/xp (migration, deployment and administration), exchange 5.5/2003 (migration, deployment and administration), MS products (ISA, SMS, IAS, IIS) Cisco switches / routers, HP procurve switches / routers
What advice would you give him about looking for a bit of temp work for a few months?
Any help greatly appreciated

To narrow down his fields of experience. The UK IT market prefer specialists for well-defined roles, he'll be looked on as a liar.
Seriously, you can't be a good project manager, cisco engineer and exchange specialist at the same time.

KiwiGTI,
with 7 or 8 year in the industry I think you would want more than knowledge on how to change IP addresses His main experience comes from the hospitality industry and he was the IT manager for the Versace hotel in Queensland for a while.

Australians tend to be generalists, in the UK they prefer specialists.
