help with remote accessing my home pc from the office?
does anyone know how I can setup my pc at home so that I can remote access it from the office?
Main reason is my Aibo's on wifi now, so want to keep an eye on the house via him.
Both pc's on broadband?
Anyone offer some "know-how"?

The free version does basic remote desktop. If you want printing or file mapping then you need to pay for it.
It works over NAT and even via a HTTP(S) Proxy so is very easy to setup. You need to install the client software on the browser so may not work from everywhere (e.g. Internet Cafe).
I use it to help my folks out and to access my home PC from work.

When I get to work tomorrow, what do I do? just install the software and "join" the network I've just created?
If so what happens at the work end? do I just see the files I've got shared on the home PC or can I see the desktop and manipulate it like with PC-Anywhere etc?

What about MS Remote Desktop? Or VNC (TightVNC probably better as it's secure).
If you have static IP address/DNS name on your home machine then you could configure your firewall to only open up the ports the software needs (5900 - 5909 for VNC) to only your work machines IP address.

using hamachi....
so now you created your own network, and each PC will have it's own "hamachi" IP address. you will need a remote control software to access the other PC remotely. you can even use microsoft windows XP RDP, or something free like RealVNC.

tried Hamachi, and it works, but doesnt seem to offer the ability to use the the remote pc as if i were sitting in front of it - i.e no desktop images, cant run program files, just access them.
I'll take a look at logmein - hoping this might do it?
