DV Camera - transfer recording to PC?
It's a Sony DCR-HC19E video camera with the mini DV tape. It came with a firewire cable and a DV out cable both to USB. How do I capture the recording from the tape to a PC for editing. I've a collection of recent PC's and Laptops, do I need a video capture card?
The Dell PC I have I've recently installed a Gainward Fx Powerpack! Pro/660 AGPx 8 TV-DVI Fx5200 128MB graphics card - is this capable of video capture or do I need a seperate card altogether?
p.s. Plugged in the camera, loaded the video capture software but the PC can't find the camera. It does detect a new USB device but won't recognise it or let me add it as new hardware.
Thanks

Nope, it doesn't work over usb. As RB5-Black says, you need to connect it via the firewire lead to the pc. The pc will then see the camera and allow you to capture the video directly using any capture program you like (windows movie maker is a free one which will get you up and running before deciding if you want to buy anything else).
I think the usb on sony cameras is just used for pulling images off of the memory stick.
