I've had millions of viruses since having the internet over the past few years, only letting people know, espec the ones without virus protection, I know what its like to lose loads of stuff off a computer coz of some saddo sending viruses, the last one I had made me lose all the pics of my daughter and a load of work I had been doing.

No it didnt get round my virus protection, it warned me first.

But what's so special that you had to let people know about this one?

Which you'd expect right? So you're letting us all know your anti-virus software works?

Congratulations!

Not really - just wondering if today was the first time you switched a PC on and so felt the need to warn people about a virus that you got, in which case, welcome newbie. If not, what was the point of the post?

Some people have such an attitude towards others, I usually warn mates or people on forums about viruses going round, and the same with me, people let me know, obviously everyone has turned in to ungrateful ****es recently, as everytime someone thinks they are doing some good someone else comes along and has a go at them, sorry we can't all be perfect.

Ho hum. The "sober" e-mail worm has been doing the rounds for over 2 years. http://securityresponse.symantec.com....sober@mm.html

Posting warnings about viruses you get (unless it is something really new or dangerous) are about as useful as telling people to breath.

Ok I get the point I'll not bother in future, how am I supposed to know it had been doing the rounds for over 2 yrs, its the 1st time its been sent to me. You finished having a go now? Some people might have actually been pleased to see that they had a warning about a virus going round, 2 years old or not!

People without antivirus software deserve what they get. They are the ones who then send the virus on to everyone in their address book.

Just ignore him - he's happy in his sanctimonious little world. If you want a bit of sport mind he's possibly one of the easiest people on SN to wind up.

Julz1983, there are a couple of bits of software you should have installed.

1. Anti-virus - AVG is a good freebie: http://free.grisoft.com/doc/1
2. Firewall - ZoneAlarm - another freebie: http://www.zonelabs.com/store/conten...eeDownload.jsp
3. Anti SpyWare - AdAware Personal - another freebie: http://www.lavasoft.com/
4. Mail Interceptor - Mailwasher - another freebie: http://www.mailwasher.net/

Frequently go to:
www.windowsupdate.com and get all the security patches.

If you realised how much your little games and ditties amuse me, you probably wouldn't bother any more.

Most IT companies have better things to do with their time than having their support staff permanently engaged in spamming employees with e-mails about viruses that the AV software has actually stopped.
