I'm taking it with a pinch of salt....... in this world there are lost of fanboys who want to tanrnish then Xbox before it's big. I just seen a video that was on xbox-scene.com that shows a crash ? it looked like a bad av connection and a pause to me
when my console crashes I'll believe until then ..... roll on next Friday.

If you look into the problems they've been having, they're down to overheating because they've not put the console in a well ventilated area, despite the fact that it clearly states that you have to do this in the user manual. I guess they can't read or something...

i thought its been designed to be a family media centre, so its going to be placed in cabinets along with the vcr/dvd players. If it cant handle that then its not very well designed is it

Processing power at the level of the 360 generates a lot of heat. You need good ventilation around the console to get rid of this otherwise things will go wrong. It states this clearly in the user manual.
The same conditions apply to home cinema amps etc, and it even says it on our sky box, so I don't really see why you think it's a bad design.
Out of interest, the ps3 is rumoured to generate even more heat than the 360 from what I've heard, so expect the same problems there as well...

Well the PS3 heat thing doesn't surprise me considering it's marketed by an ex boxer

its ok if youve got the open glass stand that you get with your widescreen but what about those that get cabinets to hide them away - which isnt uncommon. Even if there is access (ventilation) to the back, will this be good enough?

Remember that the 360's PSU also as a fan fitted and needs ventilation as much as the console. Penny to a pound that these numpties with failing consoles have got the PSU stuffed in under a bunch of dusty cables.

Also note that people are more likely to visit those forums if they have a problem, so that will skew the results a great deal.
