Default Mental mouse

The mouse on my crappy old Compaq laptop (the nipple in the middle of the kb type) has gone daft, its only interested in the edges of the screen, plugged a usb one in that does work but does the same thing.

Help !

I need it next week as it has revision software on and I am on my travels so I need it.
