He wants to play his backups, naturally.
Can anyone tell me if there's anywhere in Bristol, Glos or even somewhere he can send it off to ?

Try Sony Europe repair centres, I'm sure they'll be accomodating. Sony are right into people using backups, see their US solution for music CD's. My advice would be to save the postage and modifiation costs and play original games.

There is an argument though Jack that the playstation 1 + 2 are so massively popular entirely due to the fact that they are easy to modify. Look at the hardware sales for the PS2 alone......its the software publishers that lose out not Sony.....

Me personally ? I think I'd prefer pirated stuff, as 99 out of 100 'original games' are pure un-original rubbish. On discovering that magic 1 out of 100 game thats actually worth playing, I'm sure I'd go and buy the original in accordance with your recommendations. Thats if I had a PS2 of course

Agreed, but Sony and every other platform manufacturer are concerned. The Playstation is old, broadband and casual software piracy are new. It doesn't work in the long run, and everyone should know that.

Or perhaps the games industry could get its act together and stop churning out the same old $hit and expect us to buy it for £40!

I cant vouch for it personally but I know hes well known.
Dont listen to JC he seems to be obsessed with piracy
If you really enjoy a game please go out and buy it but for 95% of the junk thats churned out it allows you to try before you buy. I have a PS2 (the new mini size) but it gets very hot, I had to plug one of those USB fans in the front to try and keep it cool, but the older PS2's are supposed to be better for modding. My Xbox is still running fine with its XBIT

Jack, I totally agree with your stance, but I've been let down so many times, I think my "Try before you buy" policy is appropriate.
It worked successfully with my last game purchase "God Of War", of which I'm a proud owner of an original disc.

Then crack on, there's no need to encourage it though. Try before you buy is great, I played 'Gun' at a friends house tonight, a bit too violent for my liking, the title is a clue, but a great game all the same. I'd spend a weekends worth of beer on it. I didn't however feel the need to download it 'because it was there' it was incidental, and that's the way it should be. Otherwise surely we're just playing into the hands of marketeers.
