Amd Athlon 64 Running speeds
Looking into getting a new pc, and have shopped around a bit on the web, but all these different processors are confusing me....
I need your advice, i've been told an AMD 3000 only runs 1.8ghz and 3200 runs at 2.0ghz, whereas a pentium4, runs at 3.0ghz.. yet they still seem to be around the same price, to me a 2.0ghz seems very low in modern standards for a pc, but im not too clued up on these things.
Would an AMD 3000 be as good as a 3.0ghz P4? or is it worth getting a P4 and being safe?
/thanks for any help...

The AMD cpu's are more efficiant than the intel ones in the way they process and run, so a slower clock speed amd will run as good as a faster clock speed intel chip. I personally would go for the AMD athlon. And depending how much you have to spend and how much you want to future proof your PC depends on whether you go for just the athlon 64 or the athlon dual core.
