I have 2 2005FPs which are also quoted at 16ms - they perform nothing like that and I play bf2 at 1600x1200 with no issues at all.

You better have 2 Geforce 7800 graphics cards, if you want to run this beast at native res with all the bells and whistles on.

Dieseldog - cheeky

I know of a lot of people that very happy with the 16ms performance of the Dell 2405 and 2005's, and use them primarily for gaming. I've not used one personally, but keep thinking about getting one, but think i'll wait for the 8ms screens.

But this may be of interest: http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/sho...php?t=17463950
And this regarding 20" displays: http://www.anandtech.com/displays/showdoc.aspx?i=2400

I opt'd for the Viewsonic 19" VP191 (8ms), now called the VP930 due to panel updates. A couple of mates have the VP930 and are very happy with it too.

Trouble is, what looks good to one person, will not to another. And for gaming on those resolutions, like BF2 , you will need to consider a top end GPU suchs the Nvidia 7800 series or ATi X1800 series.

ps. Smokedog - agreed SLI/Crossfire helps at these resolutions

I am running a 7800gt dual head - runs 1600x1200 full screen at full everything for one monitor and other screen manages msn outlook etc at the same time. But you are suggesting the 2 cards will be required for the 2405? suerly the 7800gtx would manage it?

Dave.

I have a 2005FP at home and the picture quality is fantastic!
The 24in version is supposedly the daddy and definitely worth buying as it has component input too (Useful if you are gonna purchase an Xbox360)
The 2005 will run 1680x1050 res max and the 2405 runs 1920x1200!!

Pictures simply don't do the things justice though!!

Good luck

The 2405 runs 1920x1200. You might be able to run games like BF2, FEAR etc at max setting with a 7800 "just". But I think you have problems running up coming games at that kind of res.

Cheaper to buy from Dell website than it is at Overclockers.

Try Aria as they have a very nice dead pixel check service for £20 and there 20" Dell widescreens were a lot less than the Dell website, should have mine waiting at home for me tonight

Smokedog - you are right about SLI being a good idea - FEAR struggles on a single 7800GTX @ 1280x960 with any sort of AA/AF!

But FEAR is also CPU limited (min. frame rate due to physics calcs).

However BF2 / Q4 and the likes run fine on a single 7800GTX @ 1280x1024.

Nice one. Although I could never justify (to the wife) spending that kind of money on a monitor alone!
I'll just have to make do with my 19" and 17" for the time being
