Default IE.exe problems?? (McAfee related...Jack you there??)

New laptop on NTL cable (2meg)

McAfee security and XP pro.

Sometimes when browsing page freezes and on restart or shutdown I get a non responding IEXPLORE.EXE message?

I have just tried a repair with installation disc tno avail.

(while I am here I have also got keyboard problems with this particular laptop which requres a VERY heavy and precise touch to make sure of keying (Fujitsu Siemens Amilo) Anyone else got one?????)

Check the RAM with memtest86.

About the keys, contact your dealer about the problem.

Shouldn't get those problems with a new machine. I'd send it back to where you got it from. Problems like this are often indicative of something more serious (dodgy ram, corrupt hd etc).

Outlook

IE 6

Could this not be an ActiveX error blaming it on the others?

I'm sure I had a similar problem with my old laptop.

Windows Task Manager is showing IEXPLORE.EXE listed a few times when it freezes up in 'Processes'

Could it be an advanced Internet Option I need to modify?

Hi Dougster, I'd remove McAfee for the moment to see if that improves things. Enable the XP Firewall and then go online to see how it performs. There are various components of the McAfee software which interact with IE (WebScanX) and with Outlook which have caused me hassle in the past.

Hello Miles, still got the Jag?

I had problems with Script Stopper in the past and that's about it.

I'm also going to try a different internet connection as keyboard problem is linked (it works FINE offline).

Nah, flogged the Jag to a really strange guy who lives a couple of miles away. Was needing a lot done to it and I couldn't be bothered with the cost.

Removed SpamKiller and outlook has problems.

Offline keyboard is AOK.

No stall on IE tonight so far after disabling Script Stopper and Pup options in McAfee AV.

Father Jack, you out there?

Over the w/e I will be again installing Cable Modem drivers and checking all options in that area.

I am now pretty sure it is an application or connection error and not the laptop.
