It was on the left of the taskbar, and only needed one click to connect. Suddenly, it's appeared in the desktop, and disappeared from the taskbar, and needs TWO clicks to connect.

Not something I've done, I don't think?

I'm running Windows XP. What might have caused it, and how can I get it back to how/where it was?

Can't you just click and drag it back into the Task Bar?

Tried that, it won't let me. As soon as the icon enters the task bar, another appears over it, like a circle with a diagonal bar.

Right click on the task bar and go to "Toolbars" - does Quick Launch have a tick next to it?

If I drag my IE icon down to the taskbar I get the circle with the diagonal bar if I place it over one of the existing icons.

If I move it in between the existing icons, I get a black vertical line which allows me to place the icon in there.
