Default URL Converting

Anyone know of a quick way of converting a URL into its discrete address please?

Example is Scoobynet, where instead of Soobynet.co.uk, I want to convert this to its discrete address, ie 220.25.80.256 (that's a guess, btw).

Thanks

Hello

That wont work in all instances as it is common to host several websites on one box, or even have a webserver at the front that will redirect to the "proper" machine based on the URL.

For example, my website of http://www.sadandlonely.com resolves to 209.209.22.126 but I can't use that IP.

Neither will it work with high-volume websites that run on multiple machines - like www.microsoft.com

The only difference is the Host: header that's sent with the request. You can still use the IP address the FQDN resolves to, as long as you also tell the webserver which host you're looking for at the time of the request.
