Question Media centre questions

Hi there y'all,

I am considering going down the media centre route but tbh dont know much about the opperations / limitations of the systems.
I was going to MasterLink my new house with my existing B&O stuff and add active/passive links to remaining rooms as and when. This is always going to be an expensive option so having seen "Media Centres" for sale in PC World today I have started to wonder if this will be a better option to take??
What I would like to know is what sort of kit am I going to need in the main room and the "link" rooms??
What I would like is to have a main music library I can access throughout the house as my Beosound 3200 is now but on a larger scale. With that, would it be possible for all linked equipment to play both the exact same thing (ie 1 song played through the entire house and garden at the same time together) and/or other rooms playing different stuff. To be able to do this with visual sources would be great too.
The wife would like to be able to access all her work from room to room ect.
In short, who has one? What can it do? how much will it cost? ect, ect..
I have the guys from Diskdepot at the ready and hope to see what they can put together soon (while I mention them..All the best Paul, Get well soon mate!)

Any comments/ experiences/ suggestions would be great

Cheers

Paul

Cheers, that looks helpful.
Thought there would be more people with this type of set up on here.

You can link in alarms and home automation to the media centre interface
