Default MP3 type player ... help needed

I'm looking to get small mp3 player for the better half but am unsure of what to get her.

At the moment I'm leaning toward the IPod nano ...
Has anyone got any advice/suggestions on what I should be looking for?

Ipods are good, the nano especially, nice user interface and easy control but not the most kitted out mp3 player for features. It depends wether your looking for a simple mp3 player just play music, or something different with video playback etc...

What about something like a Creative Muvo? They come in 128,256 & 512K flavours. Reletively cheap take 1 x AAA battery which lkasts for 11hours, small LCD screen showing tracks, battery life etc.. Small belt clip thingy and pretty lightweight. I currently have the older 128MB version and it works a treat.

just get her a mobile phone such as the SE K750i and a 1Gb memory card. more then enough for her needs. Only one device then. Ipods are gimmicks.

I got the other half a little 512Mb player. Plays MP3 and FM Radio, charges from supplied USB2.0. A piece of cake to use and lasts about 8 hours per charge. Its about the size of a tamagotchi. Can't go wrong for £30 delivered

thanks for the replies people

To be honest I really don't know which way to turn what with all the differing formats etc.

Must say though I like the idea of the phone with the card in ..
