Well - shutdown.exe is available with XP anyway - in the system32 directory I seem to remember... that and Windows Scheduler should have you sorted

the first one,
my virus detector won't let me dl it as it says its a spyware.
and for the other
i want it to switch off at 5am
so i got to the dos promptand did this
at 05:00 shutdown /l /y /c
is that right
all it did was say "job added"

Why not just test it with a time in the very near future, watch to see what happens, then set it to 5am if it works? No point in downloading third party software if you can do it all with the system stuff.
