Default backing up a san

so we have a iscsi san that replicates between two tb stores

now can you back up a san to tape or is our data guy right in thinking that we have to purchase a backup licence for each server we use a virtual disk in

Yes and No.

You CAN buy a SAN backup solution but these are incredibly expensive.

Otherwise - yep one licence per Server
